this is a bugfix version, mostly fixing a bug in the radical search where searching using a stroke number criteria with no radicals would crash

painfully slow… When I’m in the app and I click the “Basic” option (where I can enter text to find the Kanji), it’s really slow. It’s takes a while for the interface to come up where I can type text. Is this the application or the processor? (I’m using the iPhone 3G, not 3GS with better processor).

Also, when the interface pops up and i click into it to get a keyboard, that’s also really slow. Again – application or processor?

If these two things were faster, that would make a huge difference…

(Other than that, I love the program – great work)

As far as I know it is the processor. In both the cases you are mentioning the application isn’t doing much really. In the first case it is the time it takes for the system to load a very simple form and in the second to load the keyboard. Regarding the keyboard loading it is usually much slower if you have a japanese keyboard setup. In any case I’ll run a profiling to see what if there is anything I can do to improve the speed of those 2 actions (basically to see if the time is spent in something I can control).
Finally one thing which can make the application slower is if you are running low in memory, if you have applications in the background such as iPod or if you went to several webpages previously loading the new form could trigger an attempt to release memory.
    Best regards
    Benoit
